HELLO!
I am Jennifer Olsen, an independent designer, creative + art director, based in the New York City area — now enjoying a little country living in Fairfield, Connecticut. I specialize in conceptualizing and creating visual expressions spanning graphic design, creative and art direction, illustration, editorial and digital design. I followed my childhood dreams of becoming a graphic designer in New York City shortly after college graduation and never looked back.
Sitting on my cream-carpeted childhood bedroom floor, I answered a classified ad in The New York Times and dragged myself through the pouring rain for my first big city interview — ducking in doorways to unfold my enormous map to ensure I was walking in the right direction. Although my outlet-purchased kelly-green Christian Dior jacket smelled like a wet dog, I landed my first job at a Print Advertising Agency working as a design assistant on the Sales Team. I spent 8 years helping to land clients like Marks & Spencer and West Elm and was offered the opportunity to establish our London office. That experience gave birth to my passion for luxury branding and I have since spent 20 years creating strategic campaigns for luxury fashion and lifestyle brands.
I founded Jennifer Olsen Design Studio to expand my design language and offer a more comprehensive branding education adding depth and texture to my work. I am a lover of graphic design which has translated to a love of motivating and inspiring creatives. Quite a few years ago, I was offered a leadership position within a large beauty company because, I was told, my positive energy would offer just the right amount of cheerleading this team needed. I didn’t take that job but I held onto the feedback and take it with me everywhere I go.
I have learned that positive things happen to positive people and I look to always spread that good energy.
